Senator Barinada Mpigi Awards Scholarship Grants to 100 Postgraduate Students in Rivers South-East Senatorial District

Senator Barinada Mpigi

In his drive to ensure higher learning in Rivers State, Senator Barinada Mpigi, Senator representing the southeast senatorial district of Rivers State, has awarded PhD scholarship grants to 100 postgraduate students across seven local governments: Eleme, Tai, Khana, Gokana, Opobo Nkoro, Andoni, and Oyigbo.

This investment in education will create a well-educated workforce and contribute to research and innovation that can address local challenges and drive economic growth.

The scholarship recipients were selected based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and potential contributions to local development. According to the Senator, the project is expected to have far-reaching effects on the region’s educational and economic landscape.

The benefits of this initiative extend beyond the grantees themselves. As these scholars complete their studies, they will be equipped to contribute to the development of Rivers State through academia, research, policy-making, and private-sector engagement. In turn, this will foster a knowledge-based economy, attract investments, and create employment opportunities, lifting the overall standard of living.

The project also highlights the importance of education in empowering individuals and communities and encouraging more students to pursue postgraduate education. With this initiative, Senator Barinada has not only paved the way for brighter futures for the students but also enhanced Rivers State’s position in educational excellence in the region.
